What did jimmy carter do to try and save the hostages from Iran?

President Jimmy Carter implemented several measures to secure the release of American hostages taken by Iranian militants in 1979. His administration initially sought diplomatic solutions and imposed economic sanctions on Iran, attempting to pressure the Iranian government. When those efforts failed, Carter authorized a failed military rescue operation, known as Operation Eagle Claw, in April 1980, which ultimately highlighted the challenges of rescuing the hostages.
