Your 1984 kawasaki 250 prairie starts great but at half throtle and up it back fires through the intake also the compression is 90 psi lacks power coulde it be a intake valve?
The most likely cause of this problem is a flat camshaft on the exhaust side causing the exhaust valve to to open all the way. I had the same problem with mine.
