Why does scout remain largely unaffected?

Scout remains largely unaffected by the prejudice and racism of Maycomb because she is still young and innocent, and has not yet been fully exposed to the realities of the society around her. Additionally, her upbringing by Atticus, who encourages her to think for herself and be empathetic towards others, also plays a role in shaping her independent and non-judgmental perspective.
