Put the onions somewhere where he can't get at them.
Onions won't hurt your dog.

As the previous poster said, put the onions where puppy can't get at them. You do need to be careful with dogs and onions. Onions can trigger hemolytic anemia in dogs and in some cases can be fatal.
A little onion isn't going to hurt the dog, but if your lab is like some I know, they are the original garbarators and will eat anything and everything. There is the danger your pup will eat too much and become seriously ill. So just store them in a secure place (garlic as well).
If you are concerned talk to your vet.
