How do you create par levels in hospital supplies?

Im currently a You Supply Chain Student in college and working with a hospital to make Par levels for there supplies. Basically your goal is to carry a lower amount of supplies but have a large safety stock. You accomplish this by doing physical inventories over a period of time to see how your inventory flows out of the supply room. Once you get some data then you can divide the amount supplies used by the amount of days they were used in to get a daily use. Then you want to talk to your supplies and create a confident lead time from the order date till the day you get the product from your supplier. Finally you want to create a safety stock by typically adding a couple extra products to the amount you carry so you don't run out. Being a hospital you want to make sure you never run out of something that is crucial to operation.
