Most of them were killed in combat. The exception to this is Antinous, the first suitor to die from an arrow to the throat.

- Eurymachus, after pleading with Odysseus, is killed in the charge, as Odysseus shoots an arrow through his nipple into his liver.
- Amphinomous, drawing his sWord and charging Odysseus is killed as Telemachus plunges his spear into his back through his chest.
- Odysseus kills many more suitors one at a time with his arrows before running out of arrows.
- After missing Odysseus and his allies with their spears, Odysseus and his allies throw a round a spears back:
- Odysseus kills Demoptolemus
- Telemachus kills Euryades
- Eumaeus kills Elatus
- the stockman kills Pisander.
- After a second volley of the spears from the suitors, Odysseus and his allies volley back again killing more:
- Odysseus kills Eurydamas
- Telemachus kills Amphimedon
- Eumaeus kills Polybus
- the stockman kills Ctessipus, son of Polytherses.
- the son of Damastor is killed by Ulysses with a spear in close range.
- Leocritis son of Evenor is struck by Telemachus in the belly.
- The rest of the suitors are slaughtered as they cower in fear from the deadly group.
