At 17 in most States you are still a minor until you turn 18 and therefore your parents have the right to set rules of their home which apply to you as well. If you are giving them cause for them to be angry at you such as: staying out too late; concerned about the friends you hang around with; if they do not like a specific young man you may be dating or your grades at school are dropping; you do no chores around the house then that is not abuse! If you are getting decent grades at school; careful who you hang around with; come home at the time your parents ask you too and listen to some good advice from them if they feel you are dating a young man that does not treat you well then yes, if they yell and scream at you this is emotional abuse. In this case you can go to Child Aid and ask that you be placed either in Foster Care; live with grandparents or another female relative until you turn 18 and you are free to do as you please.
