Coquette

The Word is French but is sometimes also used in English. It means a flirt, flirtatious. Coquettes frequent literature. A good example of the classic coquette is Belinda from Alexander Pope's "The Rape of the Lock." Belinda makes herself desirable to men with no intentions of being with any of them. Belinda is more interested in the gifts they can offer her than the companionship they could provide.
