What do you do in the snake part on Mythology Island?

In the Labyrinth of the Minotaur, you have to click on the red-eyed snake 3 times. It is possible to quickly identify the snake, but it is rapidly moving. The easiest course is to wait at a single hole (or two or three close together) until the red-eyed snake appears there. It is moving randomly among all 12 holes, so will eventually show up where you are waiting.

When "caught", its tongue sticks out, but there is no other indication that you have succeeded until the third time.
