In 1995, the Oklahoma City bombing occurred on April 19, when a truck bomb was detonated outside the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building. The attack, carried out by Timothy McVeigh and Terry Nichols, resulted in the deaths of 168 people, including 19 children, and injured over 600 others. It was the deadliest act of domestic terrorism in U.S. history and led to significant changes in federal security policies. McVeigh was convicted and executed in 2001, while Nichols received a life sentence.
