How did the north and south differ on the issue of tarrif's?

The North and South had opposing views on tariffs in the antebellum period. The North favored high tariffs to protect its burgeoning industrial economy from foreign competition and to generate revenue for the federal government. In contrast, the South, which relied heavily on agriculture and imported goods, opposed tariffs as they raised prices on essential products and hampered trade.
