The hair of women is sometimes concealed under
a cap. The wind and sand made women in ancient times to wear a hood
most of the time when they were outside. Where no cap or hood is
worn, the hair clings closely to the head in a wavy compact mass,
escaping however from below the wreath or diadem, which supplies
the place of a cap, in one or two rows of crisp, rounded curls.
