What are some good ideas for a children's book?

I am trying to be an author as well, and good ideas are hard to come by- understood. I will share some of my past ideas that I have given up on, but that you might take something from, so that they don't go to waste.

Try a book about a girl who is tired in the sweltering heat of summer. Her mother gives her a penny and tells her to take it to the elderly Ms. Jones only a block over. The girl gives a penny, and the old lady tells a story for her being one of the worlds best story tellers. You can invent the rest, being an author, your creative juices have to be flowing!
