like so many species, particularly insects, lady bugs are often overlooked in terms of importance. they are actually surprisingly important to several aspects of human life, particularly agriculture, and they have even been called a form of natural pest control, due to their primary food source: the aphid. you could be forgiven for not knowing about these diminutive bugs but most farmers are all too familiar with them, being as they are tougher than cockroaches and thrice as destructive to crops. the reason that ladybugs are so important to farmers it that the supremely destructive aphid is surprisingly resilient to pesticides, and of course the carnivorous services of ladybugs are completely free
