What year was the electric fireplace was invented?

As stated before, my grandmother had an electric fake fireplace in the mid-70s or perhaps before.

Original answer in need of revision: Tehnology for electric fireplaces or fake flames was around since 1981. But first electric fireplace was introduced in 1988 by Dimplex.
