What is a disadvantage of dry chemical fire extinguishers that are not multipurpose?

Dry power may be difficult to clean up, may be corrosive on metal surfaces, including electronics, and can create a large cloud that settles well beyond the fire. Cost may also be a factor, compared to recharge or replacement of other types.
