During a vasectomy, the vas deferens, which are the tubes that carry sperm from the testicles to the urethra, are cut and sealed. This procedure prevents sperm from mixing with semen during ejaculation, effectively leading to male sterilization. The rest of the reproductive system remains intact, allowing for the production of testosterone and the ability to have erections and ejaculate, but without sperm.
