How do you receive sky without subscription?

Sky is the British satellite broadcast platform that is normally subscription based. However, a few channels are free to air and therefore, a Sky receiver will continue to receive those channels without the subscription being paid.

As an alternative, Freesat is a completely free service for the UK and requires no subscription. Compared to the Sky paid service, the number of channels is limited but is still a worthwhile range of programmes.
