Canary Wharf was built in 1936 as an import dock to receive fruit from the Canary Isles. Otherwise known as No. 32 berth of the West Wood Quay of the Import Dock and was built for Fruit Lines a subsidiary of Fred Olsen Lines. At their request, the dock was named Canary Wharf
