Why did the victory at Yorktown end the fighting?

Technically it did not end the fighting because there were still small skirmishes. Yorktown was the last major battle and "ended the fighting" because the British started loseing citys and did not have enough soldiers, allies and confidence of winning the war. Also lots of money was being used to transport soldiers to America.
