This is a very bad response written above, so I am going to answer the question I am already looking for information on.
Cultural influence is rampant in today's global economy, which is primarily a result of the massive progression found in the technology industry. Today, a business must be aware of the type and regulations of the foreign country's government. Where it is unacceptable to give gifts and bribes in the United States, many other cultures found around the world consider paying government officials a normal custom.
Taking a closer look at the importance of having a good knowledge of culture, the very culture of today's work environment is also important to consider. More "baby boomer's" are retiring, and a new workforce is coming in to replace the large number of retirees. Thus, the new generation of workers will have a very different work ethic and culture to consider. Also, since many businesses have to constantly try to find cheaper labor, more and more of the workforce for many companies may include a variety of Eastern cultures. The average hourly pay rate in China is less than one dollar, so the motivation to move off shore is very high.
Therefore, it is important for a strategic HR department to consider the beliefs and norms of others as the workforce undergoes many changes. Another key point is the changing nature of immigrants to the United States. The number of Hispanic Americans outnumbers African Americans and the number of Latin Americans immigrating to the United States is expected to grow rapidly in the future.
