Shakespeare's audience included all kinds of people, some of whom came to the theatre looking for some dirty jokes, some hilarity by the clown, and a sWordfight or a bloody murder or two. Shakespeare had to write for that part of the audience too.

Romeo and Juliet is not the only play with dirty language in it; most of them have it. Julius Caesar doesn't, but makes up for it with a particularly juicy murder.
