Who descovered eminem?

he was kinda discovered in 1996 with his infinity album but then the slim shady lp HE WAS DISCOVERED AND FAMOUS by the way his slim shady lp album got 2 million albums sold the first two weeks

I did not hear about him until 1998 with the Marshal Mathers L.P. which was instant success. The way I understand is that a radio friend that new of Eminem (or one of his pals) slipped a tape to someone that got it in front of Dr. Dre. As soon as Dre heard it the Dr. knew he had a champion in his midst and flew Eminem out to California. I am sure Slim Shady had much local success before this as he was well know for his skills as a battle rapper.
