Does survivor death benefits affect food stamps?

Yes. All earned or unearned income will affect any AFDC/Cash Aid/Food Stamps or Medi-Cal/Medicaid case. Social Sec benefits wether paid directly to you or as death benefits from a spouse or child would be counted as unearned income. If the Soc. Sec. were disability based benefits, such as a child receiving benefits because of a parents disability that would be considered earned income. In this case though it will probably affect your food stamps more then the cash. The food stamp amount that was determined decades ago has not increased. I would have to do some research but I believe that they use a formula something like 3$ a day per person to figure amounts. Give or take...and we all know that in this day 3$ for a day of food for one person is not going to get u very far, unless u order from the value menu 3x a day and only order one item with water..LOL
