Why do crocodiles bask in the sun?

It's because to protect their eggs. Did you know that there are more female croc's in the world. It's because of the temperature. They turn into girls or boys depend how hot or cold the eggs are. If it's 88 to 93 degrees they grow into boys. If it's colder or warmer than that the grow into girls. Since the temperature mostly stays on 85 degrees most of the time there are lot's of female crocodiles.
