The executor of a will is responsible for administering the estate according to the terms of the will and applicable laws. If a joint account has a right of survivorship, the funds in that account typically pass directly to the surviving joint account holder(s) and are not considered part of the estate. Therefore, the executor would not distribute money from a joint account to the beneficiaries of the estate.
