How many joeys can a wallaby have?

A wallaby typically has one joey at a time, although a female can be pregnant with another joey while still nursing the first. The gestation period lasts about 30 to 40 days, and after birth, the joey continues to develop in the mother's pouch for several months. Once the joey leaves the pouch, it may still nurse for several more months.
