First get two pony-tail holders, or gum bands (also called 'rubber bands' in some areas). Second, you'll need a brush and comb. A spray bottle of cool water can help tame fly-away hairs.
So, brush out your hair completely. Next, part your hair down the middle, so both sides of your head have two equal parts. You may need a second person to check that your part is straight all the way from your forehead to the nape of your neck. Next, hold one section of hair tightly above your ear (placement can vary; high or low...further back or right above the ear). Take a ponytail holder or gum band and wrap one as close to your head as you can. Begin to wrap the holder round and round the hair. Leave the holder slightly loose in case you need to adjust the placement. Do the other side now. Check in a mirror that both sides look even and about the same placement.
Don't get frustrated if your first attempts look bad. Making pig tails and having a straight part takes practice.
What else can you do with pig tails?
