Becoming a Police Officer in NJ, is an interesting process. It really depends what county you are from, I'm currently in the Hudson County section of New Jersey, and all citizens are required to take a Civil Service test for police, if you score in the High 90's you are most likely to be called within a 2 year period, BUT that is the whole thing "two years is a long time when you need a stable job now" so make shore this is exactly what you want to become. If you are in another county like Morris County, you have the option to take something called a Chief's test, but the only Pit-fall with that option is that you must have at least 60 College Credits or an Associate Degree. If you past the Cheif's Test you can county your self in. **Most important thing that you will face after the testing process is the Physical Fitness Test, which every county holds, you are only called for a physical test once your score is high enough to presure a Police Career. The physicall Fitness test consist of, Running approx 1.5 mile in 12-14 Minutes, Aprox 20-28 push ups in about 2 min, the same goes for Sit-ups, and aprox 5-10 Pull-ups are also required.** If you are physically fit, you should have really no problem passing the Physical Fitness Test.
