Why is faithfulness important?

I don't think that it is. If you read the Gospels, you can see that it is only in little Words or phrases that it says that faith is important. The main ideas of many passages, however, show good works as more important than faith, and describe the passage into heaven as based on nothing but good works. Many people disagree with me on this.
