Juan Luis Vives (1492-1540), renowned Spanish humanist, philosopher, psychologist and pedagogue, was, at the same time, one of the founders of the theory of translation in Western Europe.

Modern psychologist cite that Sigmund Freud as the father of modern psychology. His theories continue to be reinterpreted today.
