What is the origin of the name Whatley?

The process of weaving reeds/twigs/branches into baskets/fences etc and suchlike is called Wattling.

These Natural Resources can often be found by rivers or leighs.

Whatley is derived from 'The Wattlers of the Leigh' who made and sold baskets from small rivers in and around England.
