How do you remove the shift lever knob?

Insert key into the ignition and turn to on. Don't start the engine. Put transmission in Nuetral. Remove the U clip from the shift knob with a small screwdriver. The slot is on the front of the knob towards the dash board. Once the U clip is removed, pull up on the shift knob and it will come off.
