using a PC/Windows: hold ALT and type 0176

using a Mac: hold SHIFT and OPTION, then type 8 == == There are extra characters available for your use by using a function called character mapping. Find charactermap on your machine and get started using all those crazy extra characters. Oh, and the characters will differ a bit from one font to another. Have fun. It's usually easier for me to compose lengthy emails with Microsoft Word 2003, then, on the Edit menu of Word, click Select , Copy, then Paste to the Outlook message area.

If these two programs are on your computer, here's how to insert the degree symbol: # On the Insert menu, click Symbol. # In the Symbol dialog box, on the Symbols tab, scroll until you will find the degree symbol. # Double-click the degree symbol.
