Before Muhammad, the Arabs practiced polytheism and worshiped a variety of deities, with significant reverence for the Kaaba in Mecca as a holy site. Major deities included Hubal, the chief god, as well as Al-Lat, Al-Uzza, and Manat, who were considered goddesses. Each tribe often had its own specific gods, and rituals varied widely across different regions. Ancestor worship and spirits of natural elements were also significant in their religious practices.
