What is another name for the arawaks?

The descendants of the Arawak people live in the West Indies and areas of northern South American. Hisorically, they included the Taino people that Columbus first encountered in the Bahamas in 1492. Related groups lived in Trinidad and in northeastern South America. They are related to the later Carib and Lucayan tribes.
