Disconnect both the negative and positive battery terminal leads. Cap the battery terminals to prevent a battery short. Using a jumper cable, connect the negative lead to the positive lead for a few minutes.
BOTH LEADS MUST BE REMOVED FROM THE BATTERY WHEN CONNECTED TOGETHER!
This process will drain any residual energy from the ECM and PCM. Shifting may be affected while the TCM relearns shift points.
