Why are people so interested in aliens?

I personally do not specifically believe in aliens. However, there are many people who do and who claim to have been abducted. I have not personally met anyone who has made these claims so I cannot speak to your question on a personal level. I am open to the idea with further investigation and concrete proof.

Religion, culture, family upbringing, brain washing, gullible, or just like to believe the idea that there is life out there.
