My Sun conure is addicted to sunflower seeds.If the seeds aren't in his food he SCREAMS How can I stop the addiction AND keep my sanity?

Try weaning him off by SLOWWWWLY reducing the amount. Or consider not worrying about it. What does your vet say? Are the seeds bad for him, or are you just tired of the mess? They told me along with where I got him sunflower seeds are bad for birds because (1) they become addicted to them (2) they are very high in fat. : Unfortunately with my job situation and a lack of adequate bird stores in my area I had to buy his food at Walmart. Which in turn is LOADED with sunflower seeds (because they are so cheap) and now Im paying for it dearly. : I am trying the slow weaning process, but the screaming is horrible. My cat actually screams back at him. He knows when he is out of sunflower seeds and screams accordingly. I've been trying to cut down on replacing the food, because all of the rest of the seed is still there. : I have the only sun conure I know of that doesnt like fruits/vegetables.
