Remove hubcap if fitted. Before jacking car loosen wheel nuts. Jack up car until wheel is off ground, undo wheel nuts and remove wheel. Place wheel under side of car as safety precaution in case jack slips. Inspect brake disc and calipers. Note that there is brake wear sensor wire on one side. If brake wear sensor fitted then remove by pulling one end out of plastic connector and other end from inside brake pad - both are push fittings. Look for the two brake caliper mounting bolts (12mm socket or ring spanner) which are at rear identified by rubber bellows assembly, allowing caliper to float in and out as pads wear. Undo the two 12mm brake caliper bolts and pull caliper gently backwards to expose brake pads, shims and clips. Note caliper is single sided connected flexi hydraulic pipe. Carefully push caliper cylinder inwards and place spacer in caliper assembly to prevent brake cylinder coming right out. place caliper assembly on top of disc whuile changing pads. Note that pads have stainless steel anti squeal shims clipped behind each pad. and the pads are held in the mounting assembly on both sides. by stainless steel spring clips. Pull out old pads from the clips by twisting from rear and pulling clear. If changing mounting clips note how they are located and pull them out of mounting assembly - fit new the mounting clips to both sides. Take the new pads and clip on the cleaned up anti squeal shims to rear of each pad if not fitting new shims. Push new pad, friction side inwards to disc, into the spring clips by putting front of pad in towards disc first, then twisting rear into the clip. Pads should snap fit into clips and locate neatly flat to brake disc with shims on outside. The two new pads should now be clipped in sitting neatly up against brake disc ready to accept the caliper assembly. Take caliper assembly, remove spacer used to stop cylinder popping out and push the cylinder gently back into its housing taking care not to damage rubber seals. The gap needs to be opened up enough to allow you to slide the caliper assemby over the new pads and locate and insert the two caliper mounting bolts. Tighten the two bolts tightly using a 12mm ring spanner or socket. Clip in the brake wear sensor if fitted to the side you are working on. Refit the front wheel and screw on wheel nuts, lower car down off jack and then tighten wheel nuts as tight as possible. Check under bonnet that brake fluid has not overflowed at master cylinder. Repeat for other side front wheel.
