geographically and climatically on Australia

the GDR stops the humid airstream from Pacific Ocean from getting into the inner landmass of the continent of Australia, forming totally different precipitation on the 2 slopes of the mountain range, with much more rainfall on the eastern slope than the western side. the precipitation also influences the vegetation of the two slopes, with the eastern slope covered with forests and the other with low bushes.

Also some of the most spectacular waterfalls in Australia lie along the GDR as a result of the influence it has on the landscape.

GDR formed the high structure of areas along the eastern coaseline of Australia, with the peak of the highest mountain of the range being the highest point of the continent of Australia
