Why is Hubble placed on a satellite?

The Hubble Space Telescope is placed in space to avoid the distortion and absorption of light caused by Earth's atmosphere, which can hinder astronomical observations. Being in orbit allows Hubble to capture clearer images across various wavelengths, including ultraviolet and infrared, that would be impossible from the ground.
