What were Aztecs beliefs?

The Aztecs were very religious, and they are commonly known for their brutal human sacrifices. Being sacrificed was a great honour, and the highest goal in life for an Aztec citizen. If you were lucky enough to be sacrificed you would get to one of the better heavens. There were several lands of dead, and you would end up in one of these, depending on the way you lived and died.

The Aztec calendar are in many ways similar to the famous Mayan calendar ( movie 2012). A cycle was 52 years, and the Aztecs were convinced that every cycle should end with a great ritual containing a lot of human sacrifices of course.
