The land recovered quickly after a napalm strike, say within a month. Vietnam is a tropical place. Agent Orange was a little bit different. If you've ever seen those black and white Horror movies from the 1950's & early 1960's, Twilight Zone, or The Outer Limits, etc. Recall seeing those forests of white trees against a black night background with NO leaves on them; the leafless skeleton trees look like monsters with long skinny arms and fingers sticking out in different directions, and the forests ground is absent of ANY vegetation, just dirt or mud on the whole forest floor. This land has been defoliated by Agent Orange. Infantrymen (grunts) moving through these forests/jungles MUST re-fill their canteens from creeks, rivers, ponds, bomb craters, etc. The army supplies iodine tablets to be put into your canteen, then you shake it. It's warm or hot and full of grime, micro-insects, etc, and looks like urine, but it's now safe to drink (for those types of foreign matter). When filling your canteen from waters within the Agent Oranged areas, the water will not look clear or muddy, it will have a unacustomed look to it; But to a grunt, water is life, and when your thirsty, waters water!
