It is possible depending on the debeaker used. It seems rather cruel to put the bird through that sort of trauma when there are other methods available that are less painful. If you are bothering to remove the spurs then one assumes you wish to keep the cockerel and you might want to consider another method. Trimming and the "hot potato" method are less traumatic and with reduce the chances of infection.
