What was founded first the YWCA or the YMCA?

The YMCA (Young Men's Christian Association) was founded first, established in London in 1844. The YWCA (Young Women's Christian Association) followed later, with its first organization founded in New York City in 1858. Both organizations aimed to support their respective communities, but the YMCA predates the YWCA by about 14 years.
