Elohim (sing: el). The Elohim ("gods") of Genesis, such as those who appeared to Abraham, looked like ordinary people, although they had supernatural powers.
Cherubim (sing: cherub). The cherubim of Genesis were apparently looked on much like a sphinx with two wings. Ezekiel also talks of cherubim.
Seraphim sing: seraph). The seraphim of the Book of Isaiah were considered to be creatures of fire, with six wings.
Angels. The angels in most of the post-Exilic books apparently looked like ordinary men. It seems that Ezekiel, for example, perceived them as having wings. Revelationcertainly spoke of seeing angels fly. The modern perception of angels is that they are human-like, with two wings.
