What would cause a Lexus 300 to shake violently when fully stopped but in drive such as at a stop light?

I would assume that the car is not getting enough gas to the engine when at idle. Is it try to cut-off when at a stop. Check the fuel fliter, maybe put better gas into the car (mid-grade) or better.
