92 sl 500 Mercedes is hard to start when already warm and backfiring?

I am in the same boat here with my 1992 SL 500. Started it tonight and a loud pop. It turned over and I drove it home..however, I thought quickly it was clogged(old wives tale of this kind of engine needing blown out)?)...so I gunned it on the way home...it was a beautfiul response and as if nothing happened. Never ever heard that bang when I started it before. It has 110,000 miles on it. Does leak a little oil. Hopefully, your question gets answered as I am anxious to know.
