What would happen if vancomycin was administered too fast?

If vancomycin is administered too quickly, it can lead to a condition known as "red man syndrome," characterized by flushing, rash, hypotension, and in severe cases, anaphylactoid reactions. This reaction is due to the rapid release of histamine. To minimize the risk, vancomycin should be infused slowly, typically over at least 60 minutes for adults.
